While we certainly discovered that the temple walls (and, likely, much of the rest of the structure) reacted to being caked in vitae, little else was able to be learned of the actual effects or reasons this was the case, outside of pure speculation. Fortunately, my newfound Malkavian asset seemed to be interested, too, in learning more about this temple, and he has certain preternatural senses. I sequestered him inside the temple, alone with some incense, closed the door, and had him meditate and use his augury to observe the past. This decision turned out to be of great effect - his sight beyond sight taught us much. We learned that there is a ‘key’ of sorts that fits into a mold in the center of the north wall, and that it is a gilded orb of vitae, with the appearance of a globe modeling the earth. He saw this key being removed and taken away by a handsome man with gray skin everywhere but his face, and it was clear, apparently, that his skin was being turned gray by use of this temple - or whatever is or was inside it. From the view out the temple door, this appeared to have happened in a recent summer. Most likely a few months ago, but possibly in a summer of recent years. This discovery is game-changing, and I believe this orb to be our first priority. Eager to find it, and altogether fed up with slitting my wrists in hope that something new happens (all the while at risk of being found by Tremere - or worse), I elected to return to Georgetown to continue the investigation there.

When I mentioned the Tremere threat to the newfound coterie, it was discovered that the two newcomers were also being hunted by warlocks - specifically, two agents, one known as George and another known as ‘number four’. Number 4 was apparently after Asa, and little was known of him (both number 4 and Asa). Zachariah was being chased by one who went by George. Likely an alias, this individual is apparently looking to kidnap and bring Zachariah into Tremere custody. Because the prophet Malkavian has shown himself to be a great asset to this investigation, which I believe is of incredible importance to the Family, I cannot allow him to fall into their hands under any circumstances. Fortunately, he was able to provide some intelligence on this agent that will likely be beneficial. He has a mortal family hiding out somewhere that can likely be learned through some intelligent application of wraith spies and torture. More than that, he doesn’t know that Zach is aware of the Tremere’s hostile intentions.

Using this, I hatched a scheme to entrap and imprison George and any close accomplices - you will see the gritty details in future entries. After that, we decided to begin journeying back to the princedom. I am writing this entry during the ride over. We are onto something here. I can feel it. In fact, I have suspicions that this temple could be the key to bringing the Endless Night to fruition.
