Cronache della Sindone:
Detour

I was, apparently, too hasty in my assumption in the last paragraph that this night’s events were coming to a close. The ride to Georgetown itself was not overly eventful in its nature - we mostly spoke amongst ourselves. I discovered Tala was once a member of the S’eth Adar, and that, for whatever reason, the kine were unwilling to approach the site of the anomaly. This avoidance is seemingly completely subconscious, and it certainly makes keeping our investigation a secret easier. At one point, during the ride, Tala claimed that a lupine she’d been tracking olfactorily had vanished from one place and instantly reappeared miles away as if by teleportation. It is possible that this was an error, or something certain lupines can do (similar to the disciplines). I also theorize that the lupines, and possibly even other creatures, are using invisible temples that are scattered around the woods as nodes in some sort of teleportation network. Tala claimed that she could see, and I quote, “ley lines” above the anomaly. It wouldn’t necessarily explain why professor Genet & the Wraiths were only able to detect the single temple… unless they began to detect it only once the orb Zachary saw in his vision was removed? Perhaps that orb was blocking the necromantic aura of the temple, and when it was removed, it was suddenly able to be detected? I will have to ask Genet precisely when she and the wraiths first detected the anomaly’s presence – that may help us track down the orb by establishing a timeline of the events.
Right before reaching the Giovanni embassy for us to spend the remainder of the night Zachariah informs us he had been speaking to another Malkavian via the “cobweb”, who told him that there was an ongoing ritual on Roosevelt Island attempting to awaken a sleeping demon or methuselah of some sort, and that the demon’s name is Hirut – he also told us that speaking her name, supposedly, drew her attention to us, and so she’s been nicknamed ‘Ruth’. Some cainites chased our vehicle on our way to the island, but I dispatched them easily enough using my necromantic talents.
