“You ever have a day where you think to yourself ‘this should be a simple thing’? Yeah, I thought that was how this night was gunna go. An, as I would soon find out, that was not going to be the case when it came to this new group I found myself in. Aside from the new frat boy tag along we found, we had an entirely new person we had to work with. A member from another family that was incapacitated for the time being. There was some debate as to what we should have done after I used a little magic to find the truth. However, I knew some people from her family and an idea came to mind on how best to play this out.”

He was, of course, referencing the brief interaction he had with a certain outspoken member of the court who had shown that he was willing to take in people like this. If Vito could make contact with that person and maybe work something out, Vito could save their unlives. If not, he’d have to turn them in. Either way, it was benefit to himself and the group. Either way, he was set on what to do.

“Now you see, Rose, had received some information we discovered about who this Photographer’s next photo shoot was going to be about. Rose was the fastest among us and our best tracker. With that in mind, He took off to find that person. Jinx and I stayed behind to assess the problems before moving everyone in to the SUV we’d driven here. Luckily for us and for many other innocent people, Rose was quick on the uptake and reported in that he had found the target. Bobby, Jinx and myself saddled up and went to the showdown as it were.”

Remembering the ride there was something special. It was the first time he’d moved bodies in this fashion. Especially staked ones and Vito would be damned if he messed this mission up. This was a chance to prove to the Vampire world that he could get the job done and would open the gate way to a great many things. At least, he believed in such and for the Ventrue failure was not an option.

“Upon arrival, Jinx and I left the SUV under the care of my driver and Bobby as we went to go investigate. Jinx tried the front door and spilled some yarn about being a lost girl on campus. It seemed to work but after she went inside I had no way of knowing what was happening. Rose told us He was around back so I went in that direction. Of course, again, nothing is simple these days and some nearby sorority girls thought I was peeping in the fuckin’ home! Imagine! I threw them some line about tryin’ to find my niece but uh...It didn’t work. So I had to be quick and when I met with Rose, I told him such.”

The smoke of the cigar did wonders to hide the embarrassment of his face at the mention of his failure to actually be sneaky when it counted. Though, he supposed, at least the job got done before the police actually managed to arrive. That would have been so much worse and far more costly than he was willing to deal with at the time.

“Rose seemed to understand what was going on and fuckin’ climbed up the back of this building and in to the window. I couldn’t see what was happening so I took a few steps back and waited. I heard a lot of noise at first, a lot of commotion. In truth, I fuckin’ worried. It didn’t help that after all the noise, it stopped for a second or so, then started up again! Then I see some chick jump out the fuckin’ window like some escaped asylum patient. The night just kept getting more and more weird. I assumed this woman was out of her mind by the crazed look in her eyes so I tried to do some of my families magic on her. That was a rough venture…”

Vito, at this remembrance, took another long drag of the cigar. The way the eyes looked and how chaotic the mind was when he tried to wrestle with it was...unsettling and, at the time, deeply worried him. It was a mix of this euphoria from the blood and the absolute madness that came with it. Had Vito not been so prepared or so strong of will, there was a chance he would have embraced such madness.

“See, this woman had somethin’ spicy going on in her brain and it took everything I had to suppress her for even just a moment. Of course, again, nothing is ever fuckin’ easy. Just as I was getting her to calm down, Jinx jumps out the window and lands flat on top of her. I swear, if it wasn’t for my patience I would have lost my mind. Something that did get my attention after I calmed the mystery girl down was the look in Jinx’s eyes. It was the same one the girl had. This pale blood red wild look. I kept that in my memory banks for later. I had a feeling it would be more useful later on.”

In that moment, Vito could remember wishing he had more stable working partners for his missions in to the world around them. Later, when he was more accustomed to the wildness that this new unlife brought him, he’d likely be more pleased with this type of group. Even if it did cause him grief in the moment.

“Another body fell from the window then and Rose dropped down too. Seemed we had everything we needed. So we stuffed them in the car and Rose told us there was a mess in the sorority house of a particular nature. Bobby said he’d take care of it but he wanted in on the payment of this job. I agreed to it and the rest of us set off. During the ride, Rose...well, Rose did something we normally shouldn’t do and also got the crazy look in their eyes. I thought for sure my group had gone insane. When we returned to my home, there were some things that needed handled so I had the fellas take care of it. Placing the bodies in the room while Jinx exploded past me with speed I’ve never seen her use.”

Aside from the fact that he knew Henry was a spy, he knew there was more to the story. Henry was a good liar and could weave believable stories and had Vito not known about the fact that he was a lying spy, he might have believed them wholesale. Something told the young Ventrue that there was more to this bug man than met the eyes.

“When I got inside, Henry was there and looked worried to a degree. He told us some things had happened and he needed to change up his style a bit to not get pinged out by the other Families. That was before Jinx threw up on his face and, even fuckin’ more surprising, Henry ate it! If I could, I’d be fuckin’ ill. I gave Jinx cleaning supplies and told her to fix the issues at hand or I’d take the disrespect personally and remove her. We came to a mutual understanding and everyone seemed content for the night. I had a feeling though that collecting this payment was going to be rough…”
