Overview:

Clan Giovanni has an established presence in the city as a diplomatic mission. The Giovanni had been granted permission to establish an embassy in the Potomac Empire of Georgetown by Prince George in the 1960s. As of December 7, 1994, The Embassy (officially) housed only the ambassador, an attaché and a newly-arrived researcher along with their ghoul attendants, though observers with the power of necromancy would notice that a great number of spirits guard the embassy by day and night. The Giovanni Embassy is located in the derelict Congressional Cemetery with a single building — ostensibly a closed funeral home. Unknown to those outside of the Family, the Giovanni also possess an extensive battle castle and gardens beyond a rip in the Sudario that can be accessed by the sacrifice of a soul. The surrounding spirit army in the old cemetery have been made to serve the Family.

Ambassador Carlo works to keep the Family’s interests to the CEZ, when audiences are rarely granted, and ingratiates himself into the nightlife of the Georgetown Camarilla Kindred, becoming something of a Harpy himself and forever flirting with Mad Prince George. Carlo is pleased to receive his cousin, Gwenevieve Rossellini, when she arrives to stay with the Georgetown Giovanni. The position of the Family in the city becomes complicated, however, with the victory of the Sabbat over the Camarilla in Georgetown.

Giordano, the Bishop of Annapolis and one of the conquerers of D.C., pays the former Embassy a visit on the night of December 19, 1994. He lets them know that the Giovanni are permitted to stay in their enclave for the moment — as long as they don’t cause any trouble or house Camarilla refugees. However, the household is expected to attend Il Gran Ballo in a few nights and the fate of the Clan in the city is most certainly in question.

Listed below is also the Giovanni of Boston and other places as met by the Player Characters.

Senior Family (Kindred)

Genet, Dr. Carlotta

Giovanni of Georgetown. Dr. Genet is a spirit realm researcher and attaché at the Giovanni Embassy in the Congressional Cemetery. She meets Gwenevive Rossellini, her new assistant, on November 27, 1994 in the sotto sudario (sub-shroud dimension) laboratory “inside” Congressional Cemetery. She was on a mission for the Family or some such on December 19, 1994, when Carlo and Gwen had a conversation at the Giovanni underworld castle, or at least Carlo said Dr. Genet was gone when Gwen asked.

Giovanni, Andreas

Giovanni Anziani of Boston. Andreas is the head of the Family in Boston, and as such is also the shadow ruler of the Kindred of the city (paying only lip service to the Malkavian-led Camarilla administration). He rarely interacted directly with Gwen, though she was presented to him when she first arrived on the Family island in Boston Harbor on October 23, 1982 and she saw him just before her departure for D.C. on November 26, 1994.

Giovanni, Carlo

Giovanni of Georgetown. Ambassador to the Camarilla. Formerly Domitor of Congressional Cemetery in the Camarilla Principality of Georgetown of the Potomac Empire [following the Sabbat conquest, his position outside of the Family is in flux]. Carlo meets Gwenevieve at the Baltimore Washington International Airport on November 27, 1994. After he pays off Sabbat Templars to look the other way, he escorts Gwenevieve to the Camarilla Principality of Georgetown (D.C.). There, he presents Gwen to the Prince while unabashedly flirting with him. It clearly works to his advantage. After leaving Elysium with Gwen, Carlo has a long and forthcoming chat in the SUV with her about his purpose there and the Family’s objectives. He attends the Georgetown Elysium at the Smithsonian National Zoo on December 7, 1994 when it is overrun by Sabbat. He makes a speedy exit just before the Ventrue make their moves in a coup. Gwen meets up with Carlo again on Friday, December 9, 1994 at the Embassy. He aids Gwen with ghouls and material resources for her mission, despite the Night War (and day riot) raging in the city. The Sabbat do not attack the Embassy, and Carlo is able to secure SUVs, ghouls, cars, and busses sent from the Family in New Jersey and Boston and funnel them through the military checkpoints using Dominate. Gwen would not see Carlo again until Monday, December 19 after she returns to the Giovanni Embassy, licking her wounds from battle with the Cult of Hirut at Roosevelt Island. She brings refugees with her, including an addled high-value target: Jordan Bingham. Carlo is set to use Jordan in Family schemes, but wishes the other refugees gone immediately after being visited by the Sabbat Bishop Giordano. Giordano “invites” Carlo and his household to attend the Sabbat’s Gran Ballo on the 24th/25th.

Giovanni, Francesca

Giovanni of Boston. Francesca was a fellow pupil alongside Gwenevieve Rossellini of Marco Giovanni at the Family’s private island in Boston Harbor during the 1980s and early 1990s. She did not fare as well as Gwenevieve, though her fate is not exactly known.

Giovanni, Giancarlo

Giovanni of Boston. Giancarlo was a gaoler at the Well of Souls at the Family’s private island in Boston Harbor. He worked alongside Gwenevieve Rossellini during the 1980s and early 1990s. He voiced doubts about the Family’s project to Gwen. On November 26, 1994, Giancarlo was called into a meeting with the visiting Anziani, Lucretia. He would not leave that meeting alive. The ashen cake made from his remains were served to Gwen as a lesson in loyalty to the Family.

Giovanni, Giorgio

Giovanni Anziani. Gwen met “Uncle Giorgio” only once on the night of October 21, 1982 when he traveled to the Rossellini compound in New Jersey. He was the commanding presence sent from the highest echelons of the Family to test the Rossellini prospects for the embrace. After Gwenevieve murdered her sister in cold blood before the assembled family, he declared her worthy. This angered Gabriella Rossellini, as she had hoped that Gwenevive’s sister, Agatha, would have won the high-stakes contest. Giorgio found this funny and enjoyed the test of loyalty he made by forcing Gabriella to embrace Gwen. Georgio had Gwen shipped to Boston to be trained in necromancy.

Giovanni, Lucretia

Giovanni Anziani. Lucretia is the enforcer and herald of her sire, Ambrogino. She landed on the Family’s private island in Boston Harbor on November 26, 1994 to “clean house” and to meet with Gwenevieve and send her to do a task in the Potomac Empire for the Family. Lucretia killed her nephew Giancarlo and had his remains made into an ashen cake to feed Gwen in an abject lesson in loyalty.

Giovanni, Marco

Giovanni of Boston. Marco was tasked with training his young niece, Gwenevieve, in the Path of Bones and more on the Family’s private island in Boston Harbor. He spent much of 1982 to 1994 teaching Gwenevieve and his other charge, Francesca, as much of necromancy as he knew.

Milliner, Jonathan

Giovanni of Boston. Jonathan is the consigliere to Andreas Giovanni for the Family in Boston. He has his fingers deep within the international banking industry, but his primary duty is in running the night-to-night operations of the Giovanni city, much like a Camarilla seneschal. Mr. Milliner met Gwenevive Rossellini at Boston Logan Airport on October 23, 1982 after her arrival from the Rossellini Estate in New Jersey. He then brought Gwen to present her before the Malkavian Prince King of Boston — a formality, as Prince King is only a nominal figurehead. He then brought his clanmate before the true boss of the city: Andreas Giovanni. Over the next few years, Gwen would see Milliner from time to time. He would tend to stay in downtown Boston rather on the island, so she didn’t see him nightly, but Milliner’s duties did often take him back to the island to report. Milliner was also at the family gathering on the island on November 26, 1994 when Lucretia Giovanni arrived in a helicopter to “clean house” (dispose of Giancarlo) and  take Gwenevieve away.

Rossellini, Gabriella

Giovanni of New Jersey. Agatha is Gwenevieve’s sire, though played little part in her development and actively wanted her sister to best her in a combat-to-the-death at the Rossellini Estate in New Jersey on October 21, 1982 in which the winner was to be granted the embrace. Gabriella was deeply resistant to do her part, having favored Agatha for the embrace, but only assented when pressured by her Uncle Giorgio. Gabriella has played no part in the unlife of Gwenevieve since the embrace.

Junior Family (Ghouls and Revenants)

Giovanni, Elizabeta

Giovanni ghoul (Proxy Kiss). Elisabeta was assigned to Gwenevieve (managed by Paolo) as a driver for the Giovanni Expedition on December 9, 1994. She served faithfully and well, driving an armored SUV through a chase with Sabbat soldiers in Georgetown just before midnight on December 18, 1994. Just after midnight (so, December 19, 1994), Elizabeta is a part of the ghoul force who cross the Roosevelt Bridge into Virginia to flank the Cult of Hirut on Roosevelt Island by crossing back on a footpath onto the island that the Kindred/Cainites are unable to cross. Hirut, however, uses the shriveled hand of a demon to slit a hole in the Tremere wall and passes through. Hirut is fired upon by the ghouls, but her Celerity and Fortitude is no match for them or their weapons. Hirut grabs both Giuseppe and Elizabeta as she tears away, a blur in the night. Elizabeta’s fate is unknown at this time.

Giovanni, Enzo

Giovanni ghoul (Proxy Kiss). Enzo was assigned to the Family caravan traveling outside of the D.C. and into the wilds of Virginia for reasons not made known to Enzo. He was mauled and killed by a Lupine in Fredericksburg on December 10, 1994. His spirit has not been reclaimed and he is thus marked as Finally Dead.

Giovanni, Leonardo

Giovanni ghoul (Proxy Kiss). Antonio was assigned to aid Paolo Giovanni on the Family expedition into the wilds of lupine-infested Virginia. He traveled in the armored caravan from the Giovanni Embassy at Congressional Cemetery in D.C. to Fredericksburg, Va. on December 10, 1994. While there, Leonardo and the others of the expedition were attacked by Lupines. They managed to get away, though one of their number, Enzo, was killed. Leonardo helped to establish the Giovanni base at the farm outside of Manassas over the next few days and nights, patrolling and setting up equipment. He was a part of the strike force sent to attack the Cult of Hirut on Roosevelt Island on December 18-19, 1994. He survived the conflict and rode aboard the stolen Spirit of the Potomac back to the Giovanni Embassy to safety. Leonardo staked the thinbloods on Carlo’s orders when they were making too much noise in the basement. He stood guard outside of their basement door when Rose went in to unstake them (yet keep them in torpor). Rose used Dread Gaze upon Leonardo and he ran screaming up the stairs. He could be heard by everyone in the house. In the early evening of December 20, 1994, Leonardo was among the attendants at Gwen’s Adams Morgan townhouse. He had been a part of the ghoul crew who moved the Kindred during the daytime.

Giovanni, Luigi

Giovanni ghoul (Proxy Kiss). Luigi stole the Spirit of the Potomac yacht to rescue the survivors from Roosevelt Island following the rising of Hirut on December 19, 1994. Once he helped to ditch the stolen boat, he returned to the Giovanni Embassy, where he serves Carlo.

Giovanni, Paolo

Giovanni ghoul (Proxy Kiss). Paolo is assigned to aid Gwenevieve Rossellini in her secret mission for the Family. He is the head of operations for the other ghouls in the Giovanni expeditionary force sent to investigate the anomaly beyond the Sudario. On Friday, December 9, 1994, Paulo met with his new boss, Gwenevieve, to begin preparations for the expedition around the Tremere Bubble and into hostile Lupine territory. The team left in an armored convoy. When the expedition stopped in Fredericksburg, Va. for the day, they were attacked by Lupines: just managing to escape with the help of a directed spirit. Paolo led the forces to a motel in Old Town Manassas. The expedition found the anomaly on December 10, 1994 in the cornfield of a rural farm a few miles outside of Manassas. Over the next few days and nights, Paolo had the farm turned into an operating base: posted sentries, installed equipment, brought in the other large vehicles and mobile command centers ordered from Boston. On December 17, 1994, Paolo is surprised to see a shapeshifting Kindred (Rose) arrive at the anomaly/Temple site, but is told to stand down and placate the new arrival by his Senior, Gwenevieve. In the pitch dark morning hours of December 18, 1994, Paolo is again asked by Gwenevieve to make accommodations for new non-Family investigators (Zachary, Asa and Benjamin). The following night, Paolo leads the ghoul retinue in their attack on Roosevelt Island. They were, initially, to set up an ambush for Tremere agents, but the mission quickly changed. By the time Paolo and the other ghouls arrived at the Virginia side of Roosevelt Island to flank the Cult of Hirut, it was midnight of December 19, 1994. Hirut tore past the ghouls, taking Giuseppe and Elizabeta with her. Paulo met up with Gwenevieve on the island following the encounter and then organized the stealing of the Spirit of the Potomac to get all of the survivors and investigators off of the island before daybreak. Paulo rode aboard the Spirit of the Potomac to the causeway near the Giovanni Embassy where he let off the Kindred and ghouls. He moored the boat in Anacostia before the U.S. Coast Guard was able to track it down. It was left as a stolen “joy ride” amidst the chaos of the riotous city. Paolo rejoined the others at the Giovanni Embassy at the Congressional Cemetery. Paolo organized the ghoul fake-out and moving caravan to Gwen’s townhouse across town during the day of December 20. Paulo, Benjamin and the other Giovanni ghouls travelled throughout D.C. in their trucks, with some refrigerated trucks carrying the Kindred in body bags. While they were being watched, the Sabbat does not have the “day ground game” that the Camarilla does, and the Giovanni used that to their advantage. The next evening, Paolo was in Gwenevieve’s townhouse, having successfully led the effort to relocate the coterie.

Puttanesca, Antonio

Giovanni ghoul (Proxy Kiss). Antonio was assigned to aid Paolo Giovanni as a fixer on the Family expedition into the wilds of lupine-infested Virginia. He traveled in the armored caravan from the Giovanni Embassy at Congressional Cemetery in D.C. to Fredericksburg, Va. on December 10, 1994. While there, Antonio and the others of the expedition were attacked by Lupines. They managed to get away, though one of their number, Enzo, was killed. Antonio helped to establish the Giovanni base at the farm outside of Manassas over the next few days and nights, patrolling and setting up equipment. He was a part of the strike force sent to attack the Cult of Hirut on Roosevelt Island on December 18-19, 1994. He survived the conflict and rode aboard the stolen Spirit of the Potomac back to the Giovanni Embassy to safety. On December 19, 1994, Antonio helped load items in the Giovanni Embassy, including dead bodies for Gwenevieve’s experiments. During the day, Antoino helped to move the sleeping Kindred from the Giovanni Embassy at the Congressional Cemetery to Gwen’s townhouse in Adams Morgan.

Puttanesca, Alessandro

Giovanni ghoul (Proxy Kiss). Alessandro was assigned to aid Paolo Giovanni as a bit of muscle on the Family expedition into the wilds of lupine-infested Virginia. He traveled in the armored caravan from the Giovanni Embassy at Congressional Cemetery in D.C. to Fredericksburg, Va. on December 10, 1994. While there, Alessandro and the others of the expedition were attacked by Lupines. They managed to get away, though one of their number, Enzo, was killed. Alessandro helped to establish the Giovanni base at the farm outside of Manassas over the next few days and nights. He loaned some blood bags to the Malkavian ghoul Benjamin Meyer for “future favors.” He was a part of the strike force sent to attack the Cult of Hirut on Roosevelt Island on December 18-19, 1994. He survived the conflict and rode aboard the stolen Spirit of the Potomac back to the Giovanni Embassy to safety. Alessandro helped the coterie move from the Congressional Cemetery to Adams Morgan over the day on December 20, 1994.

Puttanesca, Lorenzo

Giovanni ghoul (Proxy Kiss). Lorenzo was assigned to aid Paolo Giovanni as a bit of muscle on the Family expedition into the wilds of lupine-infested Virginia. He traveled in the armored caravan from the Giovanni Embassy at Congressional Cemetery in D.C. to Fredericksburg, Va. on December 10, 1994. While there, Lorenzo and the others of the expedition were attacked by Lupines. They managed to get away, though one of their number, Enzo, was killed. Lorenzo helped to establish the Giovanni base at the farm outside of Manassas over the next few days and nights. He was a part of the strike force sent to attack the Cult of Hirut on Roosevelt Island on December 18-19, 1994. He survived the conflict and rode aboard the stolen Spirit of the Potomac back to the Giovanni Embassy to safety. Lorenzo helped the Player Characters in their daytime caravan (with decoys) to Gwen’s townhouse on December 20, 1994.

Rossellini, Agatha

Giovanni ghoul (Rossellini revenant). Agatha was born a Rossellini revenant ghoul in the Family’s compound in rural New Jersey in 1932. She was born with the deathsight, and that marked her and her twin sister Gwenevieve as special. The pair were sent to the main manor house on the compound from which they would ever leave during their many years of training in the rudiments of Necromancy. The pair were called to be embraced on October 21, 1982. But, it turned out to be a fight to the death between the two sisters: as only one would be deemed worthy of the Dark Gift. Agatha had her sister and would have killed her, but love and mercy stayed her hand. Her sister had no such compunction and stabbed Agatha in the back as Agatha was attempting to call out to the Family to end such a barbaric practice. Agatha was killed, but her spirit serves the Family still.

Rossellini, Giuseppe

Giovanni ghoul (Rossellini revenant). Giuseppe was one of many children raised in the Rossellini Estate, but he was one of the few born with the sought-after revenant blood the Giovanni satellite bloodline craved for their human family offspring. Gwenevieve had not as yet been particularly close to her brother, having been many years his senior, and not having really interacted with him, but he was assigned to her by the family to help Gwen in her new role in D.C. Giuseppe met his sister again for the first time in many years on November 27, 1994 at the Baltimore Washington International Airport with the retinue sent to take Gwenevieve to D.C. Giuseppe followed his sister throughout all of her exploits over the next few nights in looking for the anomaly beyond the Sudario. He is one of the ghouls in the Giovanni Expedition that traveled to the anomaly in a Manassas cornfield by way of a Lupine fight in Fredericksburg. He is wary of the outsiders his sister bids him to allow proximity, but always dutifully does what his sister says. On December 18, 1994, Giuseppe is a part of the attack squad flanking the Cult of Hirut on Roosevelt Island. Just after midnight on December 19, 1994, the ancient Hirut tears through the Tremere psychic ribbon wall to get to the Alexandria side. Giuseppe attacks the blur that is the ancient in Celerity, but he is quickly snatched up in the melee. Hirut flees the scene with both Giuseppe and Elizabeta in tow. Their fates are unknown at this time.
